SaamViz - Visualizer for SAAM

Johnson Ming-Che Tsai

19 April 2006

Abstract: The purpose of the project is to create a visualization component for the secondary and approximate authorization model (SAAM) simulator to assist in the study of SAAM. This visualization component, named SaamViz, is capable of constructing the dominance graph in real time using information sent from SAAM simulator. The user can customize the settings through a configuration file. SaamViz also supports transformation and picking modes; the user can zoom in and out of the graph, change its orientation, and also manually move the nodes in the graph for better visualization. Lastly, SaamViz can automatically save the graph into an image file after a set number of responses have been received and also gives the user the option to manually save the graph when desired. This report presents the design and implementation of SaamViz. It also provides tutorial to help the user in understanding and using SaamViz. SaamViz is the first visualization component for SAAM. With SaamViz, researchers studying SAAM can acquire a better understanding of the relationship between SAAM and dominance graph. Furthermore, using SaamViz as the framework, researchers can develop more visualization components for SAAM without having to build from scratch.
